• November 2009
  The Green Transport Day went well with around 40 people attending the event and several people taking advantage of test rides in the different cars and the electric bikes. For more details see the report. A follow-up meeting will be held on Tuesday 24th November 2009 (8-9pm) in Henderson Hall to discuss the options available for the future of the group's transport project.
• October 2009
  The Electric Bike Trial Report is now available and shows in the 6 months we ran the trial, we had over 300 people who got on the bikes and at least 75 who did a trial ride for a day. 8 different communities hosted the bikes and the bikes did a total of 2714 miles between them.

  Green Transport Day (Henderson Hall, Talybont-on-Usk)
  Talybont Energy invites residents of our own and other communities to attend a Green Transport Day which will offer a unique opportunity to come and share ideas about how we can all be greener in our use of transport and also to see some of the latest green vehicles on the market. Several major local motor dealerships will be in attendance with their greenest vehicles, including:
  • Mega City E Electric Car (4kW engine)
  • Toyota Prius Hybrid (72mpg)
  • Toyota Aygo
  • Ford KA
  • Vauxhall Corsa Diesel 1.3 TDci
  • Seat 1.9TDI running on 100% Biodiesel (courtesy of Dr Stephen Edwards of Llangattock)
  • 2 electric bikes (eZee Sprint and Eco Monark).

  Talybont-on-Usk Show (Henderson Hall, Talybont-on-Usk)
  As always Talybont-on-Usk Energy will be having a stand at the villages annual show. This year there will be demonstrations of the Talybont-on-Usk Energy electric bikes and John Lilley will be coming from Cwmdu to demonstrate electric cars.

  Talybont-on-Usk Energy AGM (Henderson Hall, Talybont-on-Usk)
  All are welcome to attend this years Talyont-on-Usk Energy AGM that will include electric car demonstrations and another opportunity to have a go on our electric bikes. Free light bulbs are also available.

  Launch of Solar Bike Trail (Henderson Hall, Talybont-on-Usk)
  An opprtunity to have a go on an electric bike and find out if it is true that they help to cycle up and down the Brecon Beacons. This event launches Talybont-on-Usk Energy's trial of electric bikes that give you the oppotunity to hire them between April and October 2009. Tea and cake will be available.

  Find out if solar is right for you at this open surgery event. This event is open to anyone who lives in the area whether you would like to have a solar panel or you would like ot become a solar installer.

  New Lamps For Old - Launch
  An opportunity to start exchanging inefficient light bulbs for energy efficient ones. Also support local community groups by visiting their stands and get sustainable energy help and advice from local organisations.

  Energy Saving Day (E-Day)
  Nationwide people are being asked to keep switched off anything that does not need to be on. E.g - lights in an empty room, televisions on standby, mobile phone chargers. For more information visit www.e-day.org.uk

  Community Carbon Footprint Surveying
  Until the end of April 2008 residents in the Talybont on Usk Community Council Area are being asked to be carbon footprinted. All surveys are carried out by trained volunteers who live locally.

  Warm Homes Week
  A number of events took place for Warm Homes week including a live band night in The Star sponsored by Talybont on Usk Energy and made carbon neutral by giving away free "pretty" energy efficient light bulbs.
